Gilroy Assistance League is accepting grant request applications through Feb. 21. The local nonprofit considers grant requests that directly benefit youth organizations, programs and schools in Gilroy, San Martin and Morgan Hill, says a press release from Gilroy Assistance League.

A big part of the holiday season is giving gifts to those close to us, but an even bigger part is giving to those in need. On Giving Tuesday, Dec. 3, the Community Foundation for San Benito County highlighted three special funds for those looking to donate to a worthy cause—and is still accepting tax-deductible contributions throughout the giving season.

The 41st annual Mission 10 Race will take place on Jan. 25, 2025. This year’s race will also celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Rotary Club of Hollister, which sponsors and organizes the Mission 10 event.

The story of Nahua peasant Cuauhtlatoatzin, later baptized as “Juan Diego,” who was granted four visions of the Virgin of Guadalupe on a hill in Tepeyac, Mexico, in 1531, has been the subject of many retellings, starting in 1648 with the “Imagen de la Virgen María, Madre de Dios de Guadalupe.”An adaptation of an 18th-century version of the story forms the basis of “La Virgen de Tepeyac,” currently in production at El Teatro Campesino through Dec. 22.

Jacob’s Heart is honored to be selected as a grant recipient by the Community Foundation for San Benito County. As one of Jacob’s Heart’s service areas, these funds will support families in the region facing a pediatric cancer diagnosis.
