Stockton is opening up several of its community centers to the public this week as a way to provide shelter from triple-digit heat that is expected to last into the weekend, according to the city.Arnold Rue, Stribley and Van Buskirk community centers are open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., on Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. All centers will be closed on Sunday.Seating will be offered at the locations in an air-conditioned area with water provided for visitors, city staff said.However, people are encouraged to bring books, games, and electronic devices for entertainment since sports courts and equipment is typically in use for other scheduled activities.Advice to reduce the impacts of heat on vulnerable populations. (National Weather Service via Bay City News)• Arnold Rue Community Center is located at 5758 Lorraine Ave.• Stribley Community Center is at 1760 E. Sonora St.• Van Buskirk Community Center is located at 734 Houston Ave.• Seifert Community Center, located at 128 W.
