Adhering to a set of core values known as “The Truckee Way,” the civic leaders of Truckee are committed to “respect, courtesy, and fairness.” The area's tallest peak is Mt. Judah at 8.243 feet. Visitors come to the mountain town for all sorts of outdoor activities, including fishing, kayaking, hiking, skiing and more.
The Town Council meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 5 p.m. Meetings are televised by Truckee Tahoe Community Television. Tune in live on local Channel 18.
Planning Commission meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month. Agendas are available online, and meetings can be watched online.

Truckee Town Council exercised their gratitude muscles during their Tuesday, Nov. 12 meeting. To celebrate Gratitude Month, each council member picked an organization or person which exemplified the Truckee Way.
The Town of Truckee and the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe (HSTT) launched a new partnership for animal services, effective January 5, 2025.
A winter parking ban is in effect from November 1 to April 30, enforced by the Truckee Police Department. Violators may be ticketed or towed. This ordinance prohibits parking on Town roads and public right-of-ways.
