This chamber organization renamed itself the Silicon Valley Organization in 2017. But in 2021 it changed again—this time to the San Jose Chamber of Commerce.
This organization, which was founded in 1886, has more than 1,200 members. It recently changed its name from Silicon Valley Organization, opting to return to the more traditional name.
The chamber does a variety of work for its members, providing networking opportunities, public policy advocacy, and community advancement. Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the chamber also offered numerous resources online.
Speaking about the name change with in a press release, President and CEO Derrick Seaver said, “We are enormously proud of reactivating the Chamber of Commerce and the brand of our home city, San Jose. This renaming represents less of a new day as it does a return to our historical roots and mission and captures the best version of ourselves.”
