The Office of Immigrant Affairs was established in 2015 for the purpose of creating a more welcoming experience for immigrants, and increasing opportunities for shared prosperity, with the end goal of becoming the most successful multicultural city in the world.

The office provides information about organizations equipped to serve immigrants and a list of informational events in San José.

People of all backgrounds—socioeconomic, racial, ethnic, religious, etc.—have unique talents that can be brought to bear to make the city vibrant. Programs intended to help immigrants navigate the community and learn about local norms should also be respectful of and leverage the cultural and leadership assets and knowledge that immigrants bring.
