Tandy Beal and Company

Tandy Beal and Company presents original performing arts works for both the general community and special programming for children.

Tandy Beal, an internationally recognized dancer, teacher, and choreographer, started Tandy Beal & Company in 1974. According to the company’s official website, the mission of the organization is “to develop and present the artistic projects of Tandy Beal and to enrich the cultural, educational and artistic life of the community with original concerts, workshops, ongoing arts education and innovative outreach. With artworks and education, we strive to develop emerging artists and support established artists, create partnerships with organizations to reach larger mutual goals, and unite community through the wonder of art.”

More than 120 works have been toured to multiple continents, some of the work state-funded for its excellence and effectiveness. Based in Santa Cruz County, the company also offers educational opportunities for aspiring performing artists, as well as field trip performances for young students. They also host conferences for artists to come learn at an accelreated pace, and have also created pieces for corporate entertainment at big-name companies, including Pixar, LucasFilms, Oracle, 49ers, Oracle, and Coca-Cola.

The California Arts Council plans to award two grants to the choreographer to produce ArtSmart concerts, residencies and mentorships throughout schools in the Central Coast.
