Building for Generations constructs and rehabilitates facilities for the purpose of traditional and special education, health education, or community programs. It has worked on both international and local projects.

The organization was founded in 2005 by the mother of a young adult with special needs who has a degree from San Jose State University in health science and a certificate in development program management from the Monterey Institute for International Studies. The group welcomes collaboration with other organizations and individuals.
