The William James Association promotes healing through the arts. The Prison Arts Project offers art workshops to incarcerated individuals and the Community Youth Arts Project provides arts experiences for at-risk youth.

Founded in 1973 by Page Smith and Paul Lee and named after philosopher William James, the project supports the idea of “work service” as a peacetime alternative to military service.
