VOLUNTEER DONATE

Surfrider Foundation is a nonprofit environmental organization. It strives to protect the ocean, waves, and beaches through a powerful activist network. The foundation focuses on water quality, beach access, beach and surf sport preservation, and sustaining marine and coastal ecosystems.

In an effort to keep a nearby beach clean, the Santa Cruz chapter of Surfrider founded Cowell’s Working Group, which keeps Cowell Beach a clean and safe space for locals and visitors.

Surfrider utilizes a number of programs to protect the coast and raise awareness:

  • Blue Water Task Force: Volunteer-led program that monitor and tests coastal water quality
  • Beach Clean-Up: Monthly clean-up at different beaches
  • Education: Educational outreach programs to local schools, universities, and businesses
  • Santa Cruz WSR: World Surfing Reserve that provides a safe and clean space for surf lovers
  • Ocean Friendly Gardens: Keep ocean landscape healthy with native and diverse plants
