VOLUNTEER DONATE
Founded in 1972, this group provides free legal services to residents of Santa Cruz and San Benito counties who are 60 years or older.
The free legal aid provided by Senior Citizens Legal Services attorneys and staff helps prevent elder abuse, keeps seniors safe in their homes, and ensures their access to benefits. In February of 2020, the organization hosted its first charity gala, but was unable to hold the event due to the coronavirus pandemic—a problem that has only amplified the need for its services.
The group is seeking private donations, due to the growing uncertainty of government funding for legal aid programs. Donations help the staff cover operating expenses and meet the growing demand for its services.
