COUNTY ASSESSOR'S WEBSITE

A Nevada County resident for more than 25 years, Rolf Kleinhans has served as chief fiscal and administration officer for the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office. His knowledge of local property assessments, management experience and insight of county operations qualifies Kleinhans for the Office of Assessor.

Elected in June 2022, Kleinhans’ term starts in January 2023.

According to Voters Edge, these are Kleinhans’ top three priorities:

  • Assuring fair and accurate property assessments so that taxpayers do not bear an undue tax burden.

  • Education of the public about Proposition 13 while upholding its protections and all other tax relief measures available to property owners.

  • Working through the backlog of pending assessments due to Proposition 19 transfers and other transactions so that property owners receive timely notice.

After obtaining his bachelor’s degree in geography and ecosystems analysis at the University of California, Los Angeles, Kleinhans received his MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management.

Kleinhans is president of the California State Association of Public Administrators, Public Guardians, and Public Conservators. He also serves as treasurer/secretary of the Management Employee Association of Nevada County. He has served Nevada County as an executive board member of the Economic Resource Council, and as chair of both the Sewage Disposal Advisory Group and Nevada County User Fee Committee.
