The Human Resources Department provides guidance and assistance to 136 full-time staff as well as part-time staff and volunteers. The department is responsible for monitoring, reviewing and updating personnel regulations, administrative instructions, HR ordinances, and labor agreements.

The department addresses the needs of the city workforce with relevant and timely information, and is responsible for the following: recruitment and selection, compensation and classification, City of Los Altos Wellness Program, labor and employee relations, employee development and training, employee recognition, benefits administration and workers’ compensation.
