Mayor Pro Tem Quirina Orozco is the longest-serving member of the current West Sacramento City Council—which became the city’s first all-female council in 2022. Orozco started her career in 2005 as a prosecutor at the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office, working specifically with the Special Assault & Child Abuse team. She has been working as a prosecutor there for 16 years. As the proud mother of four, she is passionate about improving children’s lives. Orozco founded West Sac Kids Give Back, was the chair of Yolo County Children’s Alliance (YCCA), and is involved in the West Sac Little League and West Sac Soccer Club. Notable quotes: “I live by a saying which is ‘If you want something done, ask somebody busy.’ There have been many occasions when I’ve come straight from trial in a suit and heels, cooking dinner, delivering my son to soccer practice, and getting to closed session in a period of two hours. It’s not for the faint of heart for sure, but at the same time I wasn’t built to be faint of heart.” (Source: Comstock’s Magazine).

“I am simply driven by purpose and a mission to help. I have been blessed with opportunities that lifted me to a place where I can do what I love to do—change the life trajectory for children and inspire and empower them to transcend any of their self-perceived limitations. There’s no feeling more important than hope.” (Source: The Faces of West Sacramento).
