Rendering of proposed new gondola terminal, which has been moved closer to the North Base area at Homewood Mountain Resort. | Homewood Mountain ResortâHomewood will always be public and have public access,â Homewood Mountain Resortâs Andy Buckley, vice president of Mountain Experience, told a group of 45 people on Nov. 5. However, Homewood Mountain Resort will be closed for the 2024-25 season, said Buckley.Buckley told the First Tuesday Breakfast Club, hosted by the North Tahoe Community Alliance on Zoom, that heâll be leading community engagement of the ski resortâs development project while the resort remains closed. Buckley said the decision to close came after its lead capital partner, Mohari, put its operation funding âon holdâ after the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) flagged changes to the resortâs project plan for additional review. The announcement to close for the season was first made in a press release on Oct. 11.Homewood submitted changes to its Resort Master Plan to TRPA in May 2024 that included moving the terminal for the new gondola closer to the North Base area, realigning the path for the gondola to mid-mountain and building a gondola car barn at mid-mountain. The gondola will replace Madden Chair.Other changes included reducing the hotel to 73 rooms and residential units to 122, along with changes to the architectural style of the project.âThose changes are very, very small in our opinion,â Buckley said, noting that the resort will be hosting community meetings in the future.Learn moreAccess the full Master Plan: trpa.gov/major-projects/homewood-mountain-resort-master-plan/.Read Homewoodâs Master Plan project page and sign up to receive updates: skihomewood.com/masterplaninfo/
