The National Special Districts Association (NSDA) is promoting its annual scholarship contest for high school students designed to encourage young people to engage with local government to enhance their civics education. The scholarships are designed as awards for a student video contest operated through the coalition’s public awareness campaign “Districts Make the Difference.”

The first long-awaited piece of an artistic vision for Folsom’s Johnny Cash Trail was officially unveiled on Nov. 21.
A seven-foot tall bronze guitar pick, called “Cash’s Pick No. 1,” now greets walkers, runners and cyclists at the lower entrance of the Johnny Cash Trail near Scott Street and Greenback Lane in the Folsom Historic District.

Arts and Culture El Dorado has extended the deadline for submissions to Slope & Basin, a new literary journal publishing poetry and prose from writers based in El Dorado County, to Tuesday, October 15, 2024.

In the past, Folsom’s Lion’s Park has been known to draw some 8000 spectators and participants each year when the annual Renaissance Faire makes its arrival in town. Such attendance is expected to be the case once again next Saturday, Sept. 28 and Sunday, Sept 28 as the sights, sounds and experience depicting the era of Queen Elizabeth I descend upon the city as the iconic event returns.
