After clinching the top positions in their respective regional competitions last month, students from Folsom High School and Oak Ridge High School in El Dorado Hills will be heading to the 2024 California Academic Decathlon State Championship in the coming days.

El Dorado County Board of Education Member Richard Fischer will be stepping down from his role, after representing Area 5 for more than a decade. The El Dorado County Board of Education is now accepting applications to fill this vacancy by appointment.

Folsom's American Legion Post 362 and a local high school senior are celebrating success after results of the state level 86th National Oratorical Contests were announced by the American Legion Department of California, with local student Mahee Hasawani being named the champion.
