VOLUNTEER DONATE
American River Bike Patrol is an all-volunteer crew that provides emergency bike help along the 32-mile bike trail along the American River.
Self-described as “trail ambassadors,” the National Bike Patrol is made up of volunteers who are extremely knowledgeable about the trails that countless cyclists with varying levels of experience journey on every year. They provide emergency cyclist services like bike repair and first aid all along the 32-mile Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail, as well as the 37-mile El Dorado Trail.
Since they know the routes so well, the patrol can also help people find their way and experience the trails safely. To be a part of the crew, cyclists must be certified in first aid, emergency bike repair, and CPR.
The patrol was founded in 2020, which was perfectly timed with the increase of outdoor enthusiasts in the region due to COVID-19 and people looking for something safe to do. Since its inception, the patrol has received honors at both the local and national level. According to the official website, it has also been singled out as “the finest bike patrol in the nation.”
