The Mineta Transportation institute was founded in 1991 as a research and training unit in conjunction with San Jose State University and Lucas College and Graduate School of Business.
The institute works to improve transportation systems to by increasing “safety, efficiency, accessibility, and convenience.” Its research provides support to surface transportation planners, managers, educators, and elected officials.
