Shanti Landon, who has lived in Placer County since 2005, was elected to the District 2 seat on the Placer County Board of Supervisors in the November 2022 election.
Formerly the district director to District 2 Supervisor Robert Weygandt—who retired in 2022 after 28 years of public service—Landon focused on policy analysis and development, constituent relations, and coordination with various local officials and departments on county issues. According to The Sacramento Bee, Landon “called her role as director a ‘real-life apprenticeship,’ saying it gave her the skills and knowledge to run a county.”
Landon is also a board member at Lighthouse Counseling & Family Resource Center, a Rotarian, and a member of Assemblyman Kevin Kiley’s Civic Advisory Committee.
Landon earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a minor in religious studies from California State University, Sacramento. After working in the executive office of the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, she worked as a freelance journalist and public speaker.

The Placer County Board of Supervisors on Dec. 3 approved the submission of an amendment to the county’s housing element.Placer County Planning Director Chris Pahule introduced the item noting staff submitted a draft housing element amendment, inclusive of the 15 sites approved for rezoning, to the Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) following the May 21 hearing. HCD has since reviewed the amendment package and responded with proposed revisions for Placer.
