Public Works maintains and operates city-owned facilities and infrastructure, and handles tasks associated with capital improvement projects. The department has several divisions: Building & Grounds, Cemetery, Wastewater, Safety, Stormwater, Streets, Forestry, and Environmental Programs. Reporting to the city manager, the director of Public Works is responsible for strategic direction and day-to-day leadership.

Public Works maintains all city-owned vehicles and equipment, all municipal roads, street lighting and street signs, and wastewater and stormwater infrastructure. In addition, Public Works is responsible for the upkeep of city buildings, and city-owned parks and grounds.
