GigaBite Robotics, a local community team, placed top five in the FIRST Tech Challenge Nevada State Championship last month. Now, the team is fundraising to make their way to the FIRST Premier Event, which will take place this summer in the Netherlands.

The Excellence in Education Foundation was founded on a simple but meaningful mission: to support students, teachers, and schools across the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District. Every year, through the community's generosity, the foundation raises funds to support innovation in classrooms, inspire students in their academic journeys, and recognize outstanding educators and staff members. Now, it's time to give back. 

Earning the rank of Eagle Scout is no small feat—only about 6% of scouts nationwide achieve it. In Truckee, three local scouts have joined those elite ranks. Michael Dahlen, Brock Ryan, and Dylan Richards recently completed their ambitious service projects, leaving a lasting impact on the community and cementing their status as leaders in the Truckee Scout Troop.

The vision for a new Truckee Regional Library has taken a significant step forward with the announcement of a $1 million pledge from a private donor with deep family ties to the community. This contribution marks a milestone in the campaign to build a modern library that is designed to serve our community's emergency resource and literacy needs, uplifting the entire Truckee region.

While President Donald Trump has not yet signed an executive order to dismantle the U.S. Department of Education, reports suggest such a move is imminent. The plan aligns with Trump's long-standing objective to shift educational control back to individual states. However, dissolving the department, established in 1980, would require congressional approval.

The Town of Truckee, Tahoe Truckee Unified School District,  Truckee Donner Public Utility District, Tahoe Forest Health System, Truckee Tahoe Airport District, North Tahoe Fire Protection District, the California Highway Patrol and the Truckee Chamber of Commerce are holding the second year of Truckee North Tahoe Tech Teens (TNT Tech Teens), a workforce initiative focused on promoting the diverse range of tech-related jobs available to Truckee and Tahoe students.  

Tahoe is soon to have a new generation of philanthropic leaders thanks to the formation of the Teens for Tahoe Giving Circle. High school students with a passion for Lake Tahoe are encouraged to apply for this new program, which is part of the Tahoe Fund's Teens for Tahoe initiative and begins this Spring.
