Gateway Mountain Center announced that longtime mental health practitioners Fred and Barbara Ilfeld, have donated $1.1 million toward Gateway's acquisition of a lodge on Donner Summit to serve as a nature healing center for youth from around northern California and beyond.

The nonprofit Tahoe Fund announced that Shaydar Edelmann, vice president and general manager of Heavenly Mountain Resort, has joined its Board of Directors. Edelmann's resort leadership experience and deep connection to the Lake Tahoe environment will further the efforts of the organization to improve the Lake Tahoe environment for all to enjoy.

As January dragged on—what Shannon Falker, Operations and Communications Director at Sierra Community House, jokingly called "the Monday of the year"—uncertainty over federal funding continues to loom over local nonprofits, including Sierra Community House.

Clean Up the Lake has removed 1,526 lbs. of submerged litter from Donner Lake over the last few months. The dive team removed more than half a ton of the litter in 18 dives conducted over 11 days, according to a press release.

Licensing dogs is now easier, modernized, and more valuable for residents as the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe (HSTT) launches its partnership with DocuPet, a world-leading pet profile and lost pet licensing platform. 

As the Truckee Chamber of Commerce, we believe in the power of community to overcome challenges and support one another. Recent efforts to provide wildfire relief to our neighbors in Los Angeles have reaffirmed this belief, demonstrating that we can accomplish remarkable things when we come together as a region.

The 2024 Election is behind us, and the League of Women Voters of Nevada County is already planning ahead to make information and education about future elections more accessible to voters.

Train stations were the hub for many towns bringing in visitors, guests, freight and everything else the town needed or wanted to export. When the Transcontinental Railroad was completed, there were numerous train stations along the rail line. Only a handful of these stations still exist. Their demise was due to the lack of a sustainable economy and the change from steam trains (which needed water at regular intervals to fuel the steam) to diesel engines.

Truckee Community Cares (TCC) would like to thank the Truckee community for supporting our 2024 program. Our nonprofit provides grocery gift cards, toys and coats to Truckee locals who need assistance during the December holiday season. Each year, TCC partners with Soroptimist International of Truckee Donner (Toy Drive) and Tahoe Church (Coat Drive). Our mission is truly a grassroots campaign, powered by the collective efforts of the community.

The Friends of the Truckee Library, in partnership with Nevada and Placer Counties and the Town of Truckee, revealed the new schematic design for the highly anticipated Truckee Regional Library. This milestone marks a transformative step in addressing the evolving needs of Truckee's vibrant and growing community.

Wildfires impact every Californian, and when one community suffers, the whole state feels the effects. To show solidarity and support, the Truckee Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Town Council Member Courtney Henderson to organize a relief drive for wildfire victims in Los Angeles.

In North Lake Tahoe, the Tahoe Food Hub is reshaping the local food landscape by integrating fresh, sustainable produce with a commitment to community welfare. Led by Chairman Daniel Barstein, the initiative is dedicated to supporting small, family-run farms and promoting regenerative agricultural practices that benefit both the environment and local economies.

Transforming sagebrush-choked meadows and degraded land into flourishing meadows and canyons is a process that can take years to see through. From the first Truckee River Day event in 1996 to now, the Truckee Rivershed Water Council (TRWC) has partnered with organizations like the U.S. Forest Service and California State Parks to restore and revitalize the watershed and river.

TRUCKEE, Calif. – The Go Electric Truckee Tahoe program launched its free personalized electrification coaching service, offering technical assistance to home and building owners in the Truckee Tahoe region. This service is specifically for those interested in replacing natural gas appliances with heat pumps for space heating & cooling and water heating. 

The Truckee Chamber of Commerce announced the 2025 Core Values Fund Grant Recipients. This community event fund, established in collaboration with the Town of Truckee and administered by the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation, is designed to support local nonprofits in the region or events that partner with non-profit organizations by providing essential marketing resources.
