The NV Energy Foundation is making a major investment in the health of Tahoe's forests with a $250,000 grant to the Tahoe Fund's Smartest Forest Fund. This significant contribution will help increase the pace and scale of forest restoration efforts and better prepare Lake Tahoe communities for wildfire. 

Sierra State Parks Foundation restarted its summer garden club at Sugar Pine Lodge. From June to August, volunteers came out every Saturday morning weeding, pouring mulch, and maintaining the mansion's front flower beds and fishpond.

Alpenglow Sports announced their sixth annual screening of Mountainfilm on Tour North Lake Tahoe. The two-night programming, from November 1st-2nd 2024, will feature films that are thought-provoking, educational, and awe inspiring as they relate to themes including adventure, social justice, environment and the human spirit. Both nights will benefit the local nonprofit, Truckee Roundhouse.

School is back in session and Gateway Mountain Center's 4Roots Youth Wellness Center is ready to welcome students for the 2024/25 school year! Whether it's at lunch, during a free period, or after school, 4Roots is steps away from the Truckee High School campus and offers a place to destress and decompress from the challenges of daily life in a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment.

The Tahoe Truckee Excellence in Education Foundation's popular fundraising program, Dining for Schools, returns on Sept. 22 with the addition of two new participating restaurants—Wild Pine at Northstar California Resort and Best Pies Pizzeria & Restaurant.

Stephanie Nistler, the first employee hired by the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe in 2004, is now celebrating 20 years of life-saving work as the organization's CEO. Nistler's journey began with just one year of volunteering and fundraising before she was brought on board, marking the start of two decades dedicated to animal welfare in the Truckee-Tahoe area. 

The Excellence in Education Foundation proudly announced the recipients of the 2024-2025 Linda Brown Fellows and Star Awards at the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District (TTUSD) Back to School Convocation held on Aug. 23.

The Truckee Chamber of Commerce announced the nominees for its 71st Annual Truckee Chamber Awards Celebration to be held on September 20.

The Core Partners (Nevada County, Town of Truckee, and Friends of the Truckee Library) announced the successful completion of the first round of community input for the new Truckee Regional Library design.

Truckee is set to launch its first "Stuff the Bus" event, a collaborative effort spearheaded by the Rotary Club of Truckee, Truckee Sunrise Rotary, and Sierra Community House.

To combat diminishing volunteerism, the El Dorado Community Foundation is hosting multiple volunteer fairs in the county.

Tahoe Coalition for the Homeless announced that Joseph Herold of Zephyr Cove has been appointed as Board Chair.

Sierra Community House announced the inaugural "Blue Harvest: United to Nourish," farm-to-table dinner aimed at supporting local hunger relief efforts. Blue Harvest will take place on Aug. 25 from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the Dancing Pines venue in Sierraville located at 250 Fibreboard Road. 

The Truckee 4th of July Parade, produced by the Truckee Chamber of Commerce, proved that our little town knows how to have a great time!

The winter of 2022-23 was one for the record books, and all that snow helped make for a great ski season, filled our lakes, and brought about a great summer wildflower show. But also left Truckee Donner Land Trust with a little cleanup last summer.
