The Placer Veterans Stand Down assists veterans from all walks of life. Its mission is to serve local veterans and their families with “resources to give them a hand up, not a hand out.”

At the group’s Stand Down event, held once a year (when not disrupted by the pandemic), veterans can receive medical services, employment assistance, and access to counseling and rehabilitation services. Food is also served.

Beyond the annual Stand Down, this organization also provides veterans with valuable resources year round. This includes access to a 24/7 Veteran Crisis Hotline that can be called when a veteran or their family members need to speak to someone and find help immediately.

Placer Veterans Stand Down also has information on its website to connect veterans to the following services:

  • Online therapy
  • Affordable and sometimes free legal representation (Simmons Firm)
  • Free tax preparations (Liberty Tax Service Roseville)
  • Dog and puppy placement with veterans (A New Leash on Life)
  • Alcoholics Anonymous information
  • Armed Forces Services Corporation
  • DAV Chap. 35
  • Green living and support for low income families (Family Green Survival)
  • Shelter accessibility (Fourth and Hope)
  • Food assistance (Placer County Food Bank)
