Nevada County Pets in Need raises money through donations and income from its thrift shop to help people provide for their animal companions—in particular the homeless, military personnel, and seniors.

Mission Statement

MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of Nevada County Pets In Need (NCPIN) is to provide financial assistance with pet food and veterinary care to residents of Nevada County.

Services

NCPIN’s pet food program offers monthly assistance with pet food costs to families who are experiencing temporary hardship. The program is 3 months to one-year in length. Individuals who can show long-term hardship (low-income seniors, veterans, and disabled) may reapply annually. It is available to those residing in Nevada County California.
We offer one-time veterinary care to those in Nevada County suffering financial hardship. This program is for those who have tried to find the money to help their pet & simply haven't been successful. Pets must be spayed/neutered.

History

NCPIN started very informally in 2014 by Patti Galle, who was concerned about the pets of the
homeless people around Grass Valley and Nevada City. Putting that concern into action, she began collecting pet food and supplies from the community and handing them out several times a week, and thus was born Nevada County Pets of the Homeless.
In mid 2017, the name was changed to Nevada County Pets In Need, which is representative
of the animals we serve. A Board of Directors and an Advisory Board were assembled, and
non-profit status as a federal 501(c)3 tax exempt corporation was established.
There have been many changes since 2014, but the one thing that hasn’t changed is the
commitment of both the people involved with our organization and the community at large to ensure that no pet goes hungry or lacks the care and companionship they need.
