Center for Farmworker Families promotes understanding of binational families and individuals in difficult life circumstances. The center’s goal is to “alleviate the worst aspects of the everyday poverty they are burdened with.”

The center pursues legislative goals, such as its successful effort to remove California’s “50-mile regulation” that made it difficult for children of farmworkers to get an education. It also has various programs that encourage the participation of volunteers, including the following:

  • Oaxacan Community Shed: Improving family life by supplying clothing and needs.
  • Slug Tutoring: Educating farmworker children with student volunteers from the University of California Santa Cruz.
  • Farmworker Reality Tours: Challenging participants to better understand the conditions of Mexican farmworkers.
