VOLUNTEER DONATE
The Sacramento Tree Foundation mobilizes the urban community to care for the more than 1.5 million trees throughout Sacramento County.
Since 1982, this nonprofit organization has taken on stewardship of the state capital’s urban forest, valuing trees for the ways they make communities more livable. The foundation prioritizes its work in the areas that need foliage the most—in under-canopied neighborhoods that don't have enough trees, and in open spaces where trees provide a respite from the urban hardscape and habitat for wildlife.
Volunteers are involved in planting trees at every stage of the forest’s lifecycle, beginning with the acorn harvest every fall, then tree propagation and planting, followed by monitoring and stewardship, and eventually salvaging fallen trees from the landfill to turn them into useful lumber.
