Rancho Cordova has a council/manager form of government. Citizens elect five councilmembers at large who serve four-year terms. The position of mayor and vice mayor rotate annually in December. The city holds elections on the first Tuesday of November in even-numbered years. 

Meetings: Held on the first and third Monday of every month at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.
