The Stockton Police Department employs more than 400 sworn officers and 150 civilian personnel, and is actively engaged in recruiting.

Stanley McFadden was appointed as Stockton’s 50th police chief on June 2, 2022. He came to the city equipped with the experience gained over nearly three decades with the San Jose Police Department.
