About 150 full-time and part-time employees are employed by Stockton’s Public Works Department, serving all residents who traverses city streets and sidewalks, receive garbage and recycling pickup, and benefit from Stockton’s capital improvements.

The department handles street maintenance, street lights, and city vehicles; garbage and recycling pick-up; traffic planning and management; and large capital improvement construction projects. Capital improvements include street improvements, bridge crossings, and other critical infrastructure.
