Born and raised in Stockton, Susan Lenz was first sworn in as a council member on Jan. 10, 2017. At the time Lenz was not new to elected office, having previously served for 10 years on the Lincoln Unified School District Board of Trustees.
When she ran for the Stockton City Council, Lenz used her background as a certified public accountant and a principal with Iacopi, Lenz & Company as proof of her years of budget and financial experience. On the campaign trail, whe vowed to encourage fiscal responsibility, public safety and create higher-paying jobs.
She gained similar perspective while on the Lincoln Unified board, when the district faced some adverse financial situations that kept the trustees struggling to balance the budget each year. She says she gained an understanding for how to maintain a high-quality workforce while also meeting students’ needs for an educational experience that is both challenging and engaging.
