Dan Evans moved to the city of Tracy in 1996 after graduating from college. He and wife Tiffany have been active in the Tracy community for many years, raising a son and daughter and running a small business.
On the campaign website for his 2022 run for Tracy City Council, Dan Evans stated, “I’ve been speaking out for our residents at every council meeting for the last three years.” During that time he also served as a commissioner on the Measure V Residents Oversight Committee as well as a board member on local nonprofit organizations, including Tracy Crime Stoppers and FIX’d Inc.
When announcing his campaign, Evans staked out his position at an event covered by Tracy Press: “For years, we’ve all watched the disfunction displayed by the city council and today we can see the results. Violent crime is on the rise, Legacy Fields has still not been completed, our roadways are stressed and crumbling, the homeless population continues to increase and is taking over our parks, and our main employment opportunities in Tracy are $20-an-hour warehouse jobs while builders construct 2,000-square-foot homes for $760,000.” Evans was successful in the race, which brought out seven candidates for two at-large seats.
First elected: Nov. 8, 2022
Day job: Construction management
Other positions held: Measure V Residents Oversight Committee
Alma mater: California State University, Chico (bachelor’s degree, construction management)
Notable quote: “It is simply unacceptable that our elected officials have allowed continuous warehousing and home developments to be built, without building the career center that will allow Tracy residents to live and work in the same city, in a home they own.” (Source: Evans4Tracy.com)
