The City Attorney's Office represents and advises the Gilroy City Council and city officers in all matters of law, and represents and appears for the city and its employees in legal actions and proceedings. The city attorney attends all meetings of the council and gives advice or opinion in writing whenever requested by the council or by any city boards or officers. The city attorney also approves all bonds, contracts, ordinances and other legal instruments for the city and prosecutes violations of the city’s charter, ordinances, laws and regulations.
