John McKay moved to Morgan Hill in 2000 with his wife, where he says they found “that missing sense of community.” After the Great Recession inspired his retirement as a commercial construction project manager, McKay redirected his energies into the community of Morgan Hill, volunteering for non-profit organizations and getting involved in initiatives and projects. He served for seven years on the Planning Commission and two years as the president of the Downtown Association. He has been involved in the formation of the Morgan Hill Tourism Alliance, helps with marketing the Wineries of Santa Clara Valley association, and works on community bicycling efforts.
