The environmental organization has been focused on the concept of sustainability since the 1970s. Its first project in Santa Cruz: newspaper recycling at the Ecology Action Center on 17th Avenue. Its current areas of interest include electric vehicles, energy efficiency, water efficiency, youth education, and promoting sustainable streets and bicycle use.
