As part of the continued efforts to expand broadband access in Placer County, the Board of Supervisors on January 7 unanimously approved an agreement with Astound Broadband.

The Placer County Resource Conservation District (Placer RCD) is utilizing grant funding from CAL FIRE and the US Forest Service to assist in the recovery of private forestland within the Mosquito Fire footprint.

The Clover Valley Foundation and Jessup University are trying to beat the clock to save one of the last remaining sections of oak and riparian woodlands in Placer County.

The Placer County Board of Supervisors on Dec. 3 approved the submission of an amendment to the county’s housing element.
Placer County Planning Director Chris Pahule introduced the item noting staff submitted a draft housing element amendment, inclusive of the 15 sites approved for rezoning, to the Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) following the May 21 hearing. HCD has since reviewed the amendment package and responded with proposed revisions for Placer.

The Placer County Board of Supervisors took action Tuesday to approve the environmental impact report, legislative actions and entitlement package necessary for construction of The Ranch, a 221.7-acre housing development in the Dry Creek area of west Placer.

Tuesday marked the end of Jim Holmes’ fifth term as a supervisor for Placer County, as he left the dais for the last time.
Holmes, who has become known as “The Face of the Foothills” during his 20-year tenure, said it’s been rewarding to serve the Placer community and attributes any success he’s had as a collective effort to include board members he served with, supervisors who preceded him and county staff.
