The Good Business Directory was established as a way for businesses which give back to their communities to both support California Local through their non-tax-deductable financial sponsorship as well as tell the story about how they do well by doing good.

Along with local government agencies, elected representatives, nonprofits and community groups, businesses play an important part in the civic life of every community.

The Good Business Directory is a way for businesses to promote their good citizenship.

1. How do I get my business listed?

Go visit the Good Business Directory and click the red Get Your Good Business Listed! button.

When you've signed up as a business sponsor, you'll receive an email with instructions on how to sign in to your California Local account and enter your good business information and publish your listing.

You can update your listing as often as you want, whenever you want.

2. Why do you charge for a Good Business Directory listing?

We charge for Good Business Directory listings to support our community journalism and keep it free for everybody.

Support for California Local is a small way in which listed businesses give back to the community.

3. What is the cost of a Good Business Directory listing?

Listings in the California Local Good Business Directory are charged to a credit card once a year. 

Businesses with 1-10 employees are charged $450 per year.

Businesses with over 10 employees are charged $600 per year.

4. What information is included in each Good Business Directory listing?

Each business listing is input and maintained by the business owner or management, and includes the following information:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Phone numbers
  • Email or web contact form
  • Website
  • Store website (If the business sells products online)
  • Social media links
  • Description of the business
  • Keywords describing the business, products or services (used for search
  • Year of founding
  • Why the business gives back
  • How the business gives back
  • Groups supported by the business
  • Logo
  • Photo

5. What are the benefits of being listed in the Good Business Directory?

Californians want to support businesses which make a positive impact on the local civic fabric and give back to the community.

A listing in the Good Business Directory is an effective way for businesses to differentiate themselves by telling the story about how and why they give back and how they make the community better.

California Local promotes the Good Business Directory and listed businesses on our site, in our week member newsletter and on social media.

If your business publishes a blog, we'll promote that on our site and newsletter as well.

Our media allies may also promote local good businesses in their publications and to their audience.

Listings in the Good Business Directory are also search optimized, so people using a search engine to for information about a business may also be shown a link to their Good Business Directory listing.
