Supervisor Jim Provenza is in his fourth term on the Yolo County Board of Supervisors as the representative for District 4, which encompasses parts of Davis, El Macero, Willowbank and other unincorporated areas. Provenza first won his seat in 2008 with 50.7% of the vote in a three-way race. He ran unopposed in 2012 and 2016 and defeated a challenger in 2020 with 58.24% of the vote.
The Daily Democrat reported on Provenza’s accomplishments in 2023, when he announced that he would not seek a fifth term. Provenza was involved in saving the Yolo Crisis Nursery in 2014 and vigorously campaigned for the approval of a new South Davis Library. In addition to his board accomplishments, Provenza served as a special assistant district attorney for 23 years, promoting enforcement of environmental and worker safety laws, prosecution of domestic violence and child abuse prevention cases, and legislation to prevent the release of sexual violent predators.
