Josh Chapman was born and raised in Maine. After graduating college in 2002, he moved to Washington, D.C., and served as education director for the Metropolitan Police Boys & Girls Club. He then pursued his master of education degree in San Francisco and was a teacher at a nonprofit organization that served students with severe disabilities. He moved to South Davis in 2010, where he now lives with his wife, Athena, and his two sons, Owen and Quentin. Chapman was elected to the Davis City Council in November 2020 and is the owner of Armadillo Music, a small family business in downtown Davis that has been operating since 1996.

Other Positions Held: Chapman previously served as president of the Davis Downtown Business Association Board of Directors and served on the Downtown Plan Advisory Committee.
