From Folsom Times...
California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation officials are investigating the Saturday morning death of an incarcerated person at California State Prison, Sacramento (SAC) as a homicide.
The Folsom Fire Department was buzzing with activity late Saturday morning, but it wasn’t the typical work like cleaning trucks or conducting training sessions. It was all about family fun, fire safety awareness, and hearty helpings of pancakes consumed by the community at the event that drew a steady crowd all morning long.
High School football entered week 8 of its 10 week season and the fourth week of conference play in the CIF Sac Joaquin section Friday night. When it came to teams in the Folsom area, three out of the four local squads brought home significant wins for the week.
From Tahoe Daily Tribune...
With cooler nights and mornings (and even some snow that has recently fallen!) many of us begin to use and enjoy our fireplaces or wood stoves. A crackling fire lends a cozy feeling to any home. I would like to remind all of you to please learn to operate and maintain your fireplace or stove so it can provide you the warmth and comfort in a safe and efficient manner this winter season.

RENO, Nev. – As temperatures rise, particularly in alpine regions, lakes are feeling the heat. Research published today in the journal Science, led by researchers at the Carnegie Institution for Science, indicates that climate change impacts critical winter processes including lake ice conditions. Changes in lake ice conditions impact the function of ecosystems and the communities that live nearby. With climate affecting this critical winter process one can ask, what other critical changes to freshwaters might occur from changing winters whether at Lake Tahoe, or the small lakes and streams in the mountains of California and Nevada?
The fairways at Empire Ranch Golf Course will come alive on Monday, Oct. 21, as golfers from across the region gather to swing for a cause at Folsom History’s Charity Golf Tournament. INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. – At the Incline Village General Improvement District (IVGID) board meeting Wednesday, Oct. 9, the trustees decided to interview five pre-screened candidates for the general manager position in person.Â
EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. – Much of the election talk this season in South Lake Tahoe has surrounded Measure N, the controversial vacancy tax measure, but there is another measure on the ballot that some are hoping everyone can agree on. That measure is Measure U, the Lake Tahoe Unified School District Classroom Repair Measure.
