American Legion Post 795 has been run by veterans for veterans for over 60 years.
When American Legion Post 795 was founded in the early 1950s, it was the largest building in town. The hall has played host to many events—even a Grateful Dead concert—for decades. Today, American Legion Post 795 is more low-key but still an important player in the Lake Tahoe community.
Like all legion posts throughout the nation, Post 795 is run by veterans to serve veterans. There are various activities that take place throughout the year, and the hall is still available to rent for various occassions like weddings, awards ceremonies and public meetings.
This group hosts the annual Lake Tahoe Veteran’s Day memorial event and the 9/11 ceremony, as well as various fundraisers benefiting local groups. Veterans will find this legion post a safe haven to make friends with other veterans while also enjoying the activities associated with the hall.
From Tahoe Daily Tribune...
On Aug. 26, the American Legion Post 795 will host a “Raise the Roof fundraiser” to save their building that will, without funding, fall into disrepair.
