3Strands Global Foundation, a nonprofit organization based in El Dorado Hills working to combat human trafficking through prevention, education and reintegration programs, announced that the Greater Sacramento Economic Council has awarded Ashlie Bryant, 3Strands Global Foundation CEO, its 2023 Equity Award.

The Bureau of Land Management presented the Ed Hastey Stewardship Award to Pine Hill Preserve Manager Graciela Hinshaw from the Mother Lode Field Office. The award recognizes employees who embody the spirit of the award’s namesake, for exemplary efforts managing public lands and building partnerships that will ensure sustainability and public benefit for generations to come.

Jack Sweeney, a lifelong El Dorado County resident with four great-grandchildren, lived on a ranch that’s now where Greenstone Country Community sits. He’s served as a school board member and on the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors. In April he was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the county Chamber of Commerce at its annual Ag Roundtable dinner.

Gabrielle Marchini, director of Curriculum, Instruction and Accountability, was recently honored with an Excellence in Education Award at an awards ceremony held by the El Dorado County Office of Education. The Excellence in Education Award is the highest honor given to an EDCOE educator.

Friends and family joined together to share memories of Placerville resident Thomas Signor following his death in an El Dorado County sheriff officer-involved shooting April 26. Dozens gathered Saturday to hold a vigil on the Blairs Lane bridge in Placerville, down the road from where Signor was fatally wounded.
