The Seaside Police Department includes a Field Operations Division with a team of patrol officers, whose responsibilities include enforcement of traffic laws as well as local, state and federal laws, and general crime prevention. Patrol is divided into three watches, providing 24/7 coverage. Officers patrol their assigned beat, responding to dispatched calls or otherwise enforcing laws.

The department also has an animal control officer and collaborates with other regional police departments in the Peninsula Regional Violence and Narcotics Team. And the Reserves Program provides assistance to department personnel.

Support Services encompasses administration, investigative detectives, a school resource officer, theĀ Records Department,Ā and Property & Evidence.
