The Sand City Police Department consists of the chief of police, a commander, two sergeants, six officers and two reserve officers on a rotating 4-11 schedule.
The department is a member of the Peninsula Regional Violence and Narcotics Team, dedicated to tackling narcotics, gangs, and violence through a collaborative effort between local agencies. The department is also active in the Monterey Peninsula Regional Special Response Unit, a tactical team able to respond to high-risk events. The team also includes negotiators and medical personnel.
