First elected to the Pacific Grove City Council in November 2018, and subsequently in November 2022, Joe Amelio has been married for close to five decades and is the father of four. He describes himself as skilled in “public relations, fostering equality, maintaining solvency, personnel, employee relations, and negotiations.” His job experience is broad, beginning with a stint as a police officer. Next he owned donut and sandwich shops in Santa Clara County, and then moved into the education field, working as a teacher, coach, principal, and superintendent.


“As a city councilperson,” Amelio says, “I continue to base all decisions on what will be best for the Pacific Grove community, city, and all residents.”
