Forest Futures Salon Series: Recreation and Restoration

The Forest Futures Salon Series, founded four years ago by the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation, “brings together unlike-minded people to engage in productive, timely conversations to fuel innovation,” according to TTCF.

A recent salon addressed recreation and restoration, and featured Danielle Bradfield of Feather River Forestry; Greg Garrison of Tahoe Backcountry Alliance; Jerusha Hall of Northstar California; and John Svahn of Truckee Donner Land Trust. The group discussed positive impacts recreation can have the landscape, including the fundamental fact that outdoor recreation “fosters appreciation for the land, thus promoting land conservation.”

The salon also discussed the fact that Truckee National Forest has become the first USFS unit to allow Class 1 e-bikes on trails designated for non-motorized use.
