A former professional bicycle racer, avid cyclist, and Mariposa native, Duane Strawser is a three-term Nevada City City Council member. He studied film, television and media at Sonoma State University before graduating from the college in 1985. Talking to the Union about why he got into local politics, Strawser said his roots in Nevada County made him “passionate and vested in keeping this a cool place to live.”

First elected: June 2010

Day job: A board member of Bicyclists of Nevada County and former owner of Tour of Nevada City Bicycle Shop.
