A resident of Loomis since 1986, Jeff Duncan served as a correctional officer and counselor at Folsom Prison for 24 years. After he retired, Duncan became interested in public service. He was on the Planning Commission for more than three years, where Duncan says he “supported smart land use decisions that preserve the small town character of Loomis.” In 2017, he was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Town Council and then successfully ran for a seat in 2018. In his official campaign statement, Duncan said, “My goal is to focus on revitalizing downtown Loomis by making it an even more attractive place to visit and shop. Our roads are in need of repair and I will work to allocate the resources and support our Town staff in making the necessary improvements. I also want to improve safety in Loomis by working with our Law Enforcement Officers and maintain the proper staffing levels necessary.” When Duncan was sworn into his first term as mayor in December 2020, he told Gold Country Media, he believes community involvement is needed for the town’s betterment. “We encourage our residents, business owners and property owners to participate,” Duncan said. “We’re elected to serve them and what’s best for Loomis, so it really does help when you hear from people and find out what’s important to them.”
