In the 2022 election, Amanda Cortez narrowly edged out incumbent Jan Clark-Crets and secured a seat on the Loomis Town Council. A delivery driver who has worked for the same company for more than two decades, Cortez says in her campaign statement that her goals include “attracting new businesses and patrons back downtown, advocating for road surface maintenance and traffic solutions.”

Cortez places a heavy emphasis on her family life. She moved to Loomis in 2004 to provide her children with “a high quality of life and top-notch education.” She and her husband share a blended family with six children; three of them graduated from Del Pro High. “Now that our children are older, we feel obligated to give back to the community that gave so much to us,” she says.

Another notable aspect of her campaign are her endorsements, with the most salient being Kevin Kiley, the Placer County Republican Central Committee, the American Council, and the Placer County Taxpayers Association.
