The Folsom Police Department daily balances the challenges of a rapidly growing city desiring to hold on to its small-town feel. The force is proactive in building community partnerships and providing service to all.

Police Chief Rick Hillman was sworn in on April 23, 2018, and leads a police department of more than 100 officers and staff. He has worked for the Folsom Police Department since 1995 and served at the Placerville Police Department prior to that.

Chief Hillman graduated from the Union Institute and University. He holds several certifications as well as a degree in criminal justice management.
