As he was coming to the end of a term on the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors, Steve J. Bestolarides was appointed to fill the vacancy left by Kenneth Blakemore, who retired in August 2015. Bestolarides ran for reelection against Reno Ursal in 2018, and then won another term after running unopposed in the June 2022 primary.
